Shell Eco-Marathon coming to India for the first time

The Shell Eco-Marathon is coming to India for the first time. The competition will be part of the company's 'Make the Future India' event, which is scheduled to be held in Chennai from December 6-9, 2018.

The Shell Eco-Marathon is being held since 1939 and is the world's longest-running student competition, where engineering students from all over the world are challenged to design, build and test energy efficient vehicles.

Indian teams have been participating in the competition since 2010. In the past, Team Averera from IIT-BHU, Varanasi had created a light weight electric 3-wheeler with a custom motor controller that achieved a mileage of 350 km/kWh. The team from Sir M. Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology, Bangalore had built a 100 cc motorcycle engine that returned over 100 km/l, while the BITS Pilani team had created a car that ran on ethanol produced from garbage.

Registrations for the Shell Eco-Marathon will be accepted in 2 phases:

Phase 1 - June 11 - August 28, 2018

Phase 2 - September 3 - November 1, 2018

Teams can submit their applications on this website.
