Just completed my longest trip so far. Singapore to Bangkok over a 8 day period.
1. ODO at 32,500
2. Trip distance 3900
3. Did 2x 900kms days
4. Spent the longest I’ve ever done on the saddle without a break - 300kms
5. One way distance SG-BKK is around 1850kms. Split that into 3 segments with 2 over night breaks as per - 900kms + 475kms + 475kms
6. The final 300km journey back home was completely torrential rains which I’ve never seen before in these parts. Low visibility coupled with completely wet roads (obviously !).
The bike performed flawlessly in terms of no mechanical or electrical glitches despite getting splashed around with water as well as solid grip. Usually during rains, I switch to the rain mode which slows down the throttle response a bit and brings in the rain ABS map - all of which work very well to avoid any loss of grip due to sudden water flow typical in such heavy rains or when one needs to do braking to slow down for traffic ahead or while making lane changes. One more feature that helped in these times of low visibility was the proximity radar alerts one gets in the rear view mirrors. This alerts you on vehicles adjacent to you as well as approaching you from behind. This really supplemented the physical checks one would do looking into the mirrors.
Basically sharing these stats to highlight this bike’s touring credentials. Average fuel efficiency for the trip was 21.2 kmpl thanks to the super smooth expressway in Malaysia and very good highways in Thailand.
