Skoda could launch next-gen Superb in India this year

While the Octavia is also expected to make a comeback, it will depend on how the market reacts to the new Superb.

Skoda phased out the Superb after the BS6 Phase 2 emissions norms came into effect earlier this year. However, that doesn't mean that the flagship sedan has gone for good. According to a media report, the Superb will make a comeback in its new avatar this year itself.

The next-generation Superb is already in the works. Skoda recently released a teaser of the upcoming sedan, revealing its new LED headlight signature and C-shaped LED taillights. The car is likely to retain its overall look, albeit with minor changes around the front grille and rear fascia.

Reports also suggest that Skoda plans to assemble the Superb in India. That being said, there's still no clarity regarding its powertrain options. According to Petr Solc, Brand Director, Skoda India, the company could offer a strong-hybrid powertrain, but its main focus, for now, is the EV segment.

The Skoda Octavia was also discontinued following the rollout of the new emissions norms. While the Octavia is also expected to make a comeback, it will depend on how the market reacts to the new Superb. Similarly, the spicy Octavia vRS could also be offered as a limited edition.
