Skoda Kodiaq launched at Rs. 34.50 lakh

Skoda has launched the Kodiaq in India at a price of Rs. 34.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The 7-seater SUV will be available in one variant. It is available in 4 colour options - Lava Blue, Quartz Grey, Moon White and Magic Black.

The Kodiaq is Skoda's flagship SUV which is based on the MQB platform and shares its underpinnings with the VW Tiguan, Skoda Octavia and Superb. The Kodiaq measures 4,697 mm in length, 1,882 mm in width and 1,676 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,791 mm and offers an unladen ground clearance of 140 mm while fuel tank capacity is 63 litres. The Kodiaq offers room for seven people and has a luggage capacity of 270 litres which goes up to 2,065 litres with the rear seats folded down.

The front features a chrome-lined grille with vertical slats, flanked on either side by LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs. LED fog lamps are placed just below the main headlights. The lower bumper features a wide air dam which runs across the width of the car. A single feature line runs along the side of the vehicle and wraps around the tail gate. The line merges into the C-shaped LED tail lights.

Inside, the Kodiaq gets a three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, dual-tone interior with faux wood trim on the dashboard and door panels. The seats are lined with stone beige upholstery and come with 12-way adjustment for driver and passenger seat. The driver’s seat gets a memory function. The Power Nap Package adds variable headrests on the rear seats and blankets. 

An 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system sits in the centre of the dashboard. The system is compatible with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink. It also comes with 575 watts, 10-speaker Canton stereo system.

The Kodiaq is offered with features like 3-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry, panoramic sunroof, roller blinds for rear windows, door edge protection, umbrella storage compartment, headlamp washers, LED lights under ORVMs, electric opening and closing tail gate, etc. It also comes with hands-free parking, adaptive cruise control and adaptive head lights.

In India, the Kodiaq is offered with a 1,968cc, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine that produces 148 BHP @ 3,500-4,000 rpm and 340 Nm of peak torque @ 1,750-3,000. The 7-speed DSG is the only transmission available on the Kodiaq. It transmits power to all four wheels via an electronically locking differential (XDS+). The driver can select from four driving modes - Normal, Eco, Sport and Individual. It rides on Trinity 18-inch alloy wheels.

In terms of safety equipment, the Kodiaq gets 9 airbags, fatigue alert, multi-collision brake and park assist, ABS with EBD, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), TCS (Traction Control System), Electromechanical parking brake (rear axle) with Auto Hold Function (both front and rear axle) and ISOFIX child-seat preparations on outer rear seats.
