Skoda Octavia discontinued in India; Superb could be next

The Skoda Kodiaq and VW Tiguan are expected to be upgraded to comply with the RDE norms.

In August last year, we had reported that Skoda would phase out its last remaining D-segment sedans in India. Well, the day has finally arrived. The Octavia has been removed from the brand’s official website, which indicates that the car has been discontinued from the Indian market.

The Skoda Octavia is yet another victim of the BS6 Phase 2 emission norms, which came into effect on April 1, 2023. We had earlier reported that Octavia’s EA888 evo3 DQ381-7F drivetrain did not comply with the new regulations. Replacing it with the evo4 was not financially viable, and hence Skoda decided to pull the plug on the model.

The Skoda Superb also uses the same powertrain and is expected to be phased out as well. However, the carmaker is yet to delist it from its official website.

The Skoda Kodiaq and VW Tiguan are expected to be upgraded to comply with the RDE norms. Both SUVs will get the EA888 evo4 DQ381-7A drivetrain developed by Audi AG.
