Skoda replacing Fabia front seat frames

Team-BHPian Puchoo brings to our notice, that Skoda Auto India has instructed its workshops to replace the front seat frames on its Fabia hatchback. While Skoda has not made any public announcement, Skoda Service Centres have been provided a list of cars which are eligible for this replacement.

According to Skoda, if the seats are stationary in one position for an extended period of time, the channels on which the seats moves back and forth, have a tendency to rust. Due to the rust, any movement of the seats may result in the jamming or breaking of bearings or the channels themselves. As a result, the frames of both front seats will need replacement. The job of changing these frames could take as long as a day. However, the seat frame is an important component and it would be well worth Fabia owners’ while to have their cars inspected and seat frames replaced, depending on eligibility.

The Fabia continues to struggle in the sales charts and while production is said to have ceased, Skoda has recently given it a few minor updates. There is no change to the exterior of the car, but parts from the Rapid saloon are now used to give the Fabia’s interior a makeover. Additionally, massive discounts are available as Skoda tries to clear unsold stocks.
