Suzuki Jimny introduced as a commercial vehicle in the UK

The Jimny will now be sold exclusively as a 2-seater commercial vehicle in the UK.

Suzuki has introduced the Jimny Light Commercial Vehicle in the United Kingdom. The Suzuki Jimny LCV is priced at £16,796 (approx. Rs 17.30 lakh) and is said to be offered in 'limited numbers' in 2021.

The Jimny will now be sold exclusively as a 2-seater commercial vehicle in the UK. The small 4x4 off-roader from the Japanese brand was removed from the passenger vehicle segment of the UK market last year because of emission regulations.

However, Suzuki has managed to homologate and sell the Jimny as a commercial vehicle, which is subjected to less stringent emission regulations.

The Suzuki Jimny continues to be powered by the same 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 100 BHP and mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. It also continues to offer a part-time all-wheel-drive system with a low-range transfer case.

On the inside, the Jimny LCV now comes with just the two front seats. At the back, Suzuki has removed the seats to offer 863-litres of cargo space, complete with a partition.

While the cabin on the LCV version comes with just the bare basic equipment, Suzuki has retained all the safety features from the standard model. These include dual sensor brake support, hill-hold and descent control, e-call assist and automatic emergency braking, among others.
