Switched from a low-slung Hyundai Elantra to a very tall Tata Safari

After trying the Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Alcazar and MG Hector, we instantly felt at home in the Safari facelift.

BHPian bhaskaracs recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

Went for the long pending long drive finally.

Drove the Safari for 500 odd km over two days on good and bad highways.

My previous car was a 09-year-old Elantra - a typical very low-slung, no-nonsense, point-and-shoot sedan which has set a reasonably steep benchmark for ride quality, body roll etc. As much as the older-gen Vernas and Elantras had a tarnished image for their willowy ride quality, the Fluidic Elantra offered a truly luxurious ride experience, though it ran on a 1586cc CRDI engine. Amazing ride quality it offered. We sat so low that my boss used to call it a centipede.

Now moving from such a low-slung sedan to a very tall car like Safari, I had my apprehensions. But one thing I must give to Tata. Me and my wife felt at home instantly inside the Safari, after trying XUV700, Alcazar and Hector. The ergonomics, ride quality, steering feedback, just the feel of the wheel etc., were too adjacent to the Elantra to ignore.

So coming back to the long ride, it was amazing. The true testimony my family can offer is that we did not miss our earlier low-slung sedan on a highway when we were riding Safari. Hoping to crunch more miles soon.
