TAMO Racemo - Tata's new sports coupe unveiled at Geneva

Tata Motors has unveiled the first car developed under its recently launched TAMO sub-brand at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Called the Racemo, this new car is a sub-4 meter sports coupe that is expected to go on sale in India around Christmas this year.

The TAMO Racemo is a mid-engined, 2-seater sports car. It is powered by a 1.2-litre, turbocharged Revotron petrol engine that develops 187 BHP @ 6,500 rpm and 210 Nm of torque @ 2,500 rpm. Transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed AMT with paddle shifters and push button reverse. Tata Motors claims that the Racemo can do a 0-100 km/h sprint in less than 6 seconds.

The Racemo is equipped with an independent double wishbone suspension setup all-round. It gets disc brakes on all four wheels and is equipped with ABS and EBD. The front has 205/50 R17 tubeless radial tyres while the rear gets 235/45 R18 tubeless radials. The car is 3,835 mm long, 1,810 mm wide and 1,208 mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2,430 mm, a ground clearance of 165 mm and a turning radius of 5.8 m.

The Racemo is built on a new, patented MOFlex Multi-Material Sandwich (MMS) structure. The car has been designed at Tata's design studio in Turin, Italy. It gets Bi-LED headlamps, a bumper that houses a large blacked out area, butterfly doors, circular LED taillights, centre-mounted exhaust and a contrasting engine cover with intake holes. The cabin gets a dual tone layout, with red inserts at various places. The instrument cluster includes three screens that are likely to be used to access various connected car technologies that have been developed under the recently announced partnership with Microsoft.

The TAMO Racemo will also be offered in a race track-exclusive version called Racemo+. Additionally, the car is also available on Microsoft's Forza Horizon 3 game.
