Tata Altroz turbo-petrol unveiled; launch on Jan 22

The Altroz iTurbo is available in 3 variants - XT, XZ and XZ+. Bookings open on Jan 14.

Tata Motors has unveiled the turbo-petrol version of the Altroz hatchback. The car is available in 3 variants - XT, XZ and XZ+. Bookings open on January 14, 2021. Customers can book the car by paying a token amount of Rs. 11,000. Prices will be announced on January 22.

Powering the new Altroz iTurbo is a 1.2-litre, turbocharged 3-cylinder engine that produces 108 BHP @ 5,500 rpm and 140 Nm @ 1,500-5,000 rpm. This engine has 28% more power and 24% more torque compared to the naturally aspirated unit. Tata claims the Altroz iTurbo will do 0-100 km/h in 11.9 seconds. The engine is said to deliver 18.13 km/l (MIDC cycle).

The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and has two drive modes - City and Sport. A dual-clutch automatic transmission could be introduced at a later date. Besides the engine, Tata claims to have made minor tuning changes to the suspension and steering.

The Altroz iTurbo comes with a grey interior with silver trim. It features leatherette seat upholstery, height adjustable driver seat, front and rear centre armrest, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, automatic climate control with Xpress cool function and cruise control. The car is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and Tata's iRA connected car features, over 70 voice commands (Hindi, English & Hinglish) and What 3 words navigation.
