The Tata Curvv, with its coupe styling, introduced a bit of design flavour to the mid-size SUV segment in India. The new Curvv is packed with many features, including Level 2 ADAS, a powered tailgate with gesture activation, a 9-speaker JBL audio system, panoramic sunroof and more.
Three engine options are available - 2 turbo-petrol units and a diesel engine. All three engines can be had with either a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed DCA. Here's a link to our full official review of the car - (Review Link).
There are 8 variants in total. Here's a deep dive into all the variants to help you identify the most valuable trim for your preferences.
Variants Breakdown
Top Features
Top Features Over Smart
Top Features Over Pure+
Top Features Pure+ S
Top Features Over Creative
Top Features Over Creative
Top Features Over Creative+ S
Top Features Over Accomplished S
The Smart variant with its lack of features feels basic and can be considered only if you have a tight budget. The Creative variant adds a bit more equipment to the SUV to give it more functions. However, this variant too feels a bit basic for 2024.
The Creative+ S trim seems like the perfect balance of price-to-features ratio. Apart from fancy features like a sunroof and mood lighting, you get functional features such as a 360-degree view camera, & a blind-view monitor, both of which are essential for crowded cities in India.
The powerful T-GDi petrol engine is just the icing on the cake. This demands a premium of Rs 1.5 Lakh over the Creative variant, which we feel is justified with all the upgrades that come with it. For a lakh more, you can also think of the Accomplished S trim which has features like an electronic parking brake with auto hold, rear disc brakes, powered driver's seat, ventilated front seats and a JBL audio system. The top-end Accomplished+ A has all the features like ADAS Level 2, an electronic tailgate with gesture control, connected car tech, etc. But if you aren't very keen on having ADAS, then the jump of Rs 1.5 lakh doesn't make much sense.
Do let us know what you think is the most value-for-money variant and also if you had to buy the Tata Curvv, which variant would you pick?
Here's what BHPian ryzen7@5800u had to say on the matter:
We are considering the Curvv as a replacement for the Nexon. I think the Creative S Hyperion is the variant most suitable for us, as it is well priced and has a good spec - comes with 6 airbags, the new engine, a touchscreen infotainment unit and rear AC blowers.
Looking back at our experience with the Revotron - it's been trouble free over the past 1 lakh kilometres, so I feel quite confident going with the new Hyperion engine.
Here's what BHPian TheStoryweaver had to say on the matter:
I have been evaluating the Curvv variants to decide which one suits us best. In my analysis, the Creative +S is the one with essential features and the necessary bells and whistles. The lack of ADAS is actually a plus. The only things missing in this variant are leather seats and Auto IRVM.
TATA has positioned the Creative variant as value for money (VFM). However, security features like the 360-degree camera, TPMS, digital instrument cluster, and hill descent control make the Creative +S worth considering.
Tata has priced the new engine at quite a high premium, which I feel is unjustified. A price correction is needed, as there is almost a 1.5 lakh difference between the old (Revotron) and the new (Hyperion) engines.
Lastly, I haven’t had the chance to try the new engine because the dealers seem clueless about when or if they will get the 1.2 GDI for a test drive. The new engine should be the frontrunner in Tata’s advertising—‘Look what we’ve created!’—but it’s the opposite, with no clear information on when the car will be available for consumers to see how it suits them.
I have been rooting for this car for quite some time, but so far, I am not very confident after seeing how TATA is handling things post-launch.
Here's what BHPian It's_Magic had to say on the matter:
Voted for Creative+ S
I agree that the Smart trim is very basic, while the Creative+ S trim offers the perfect balance of price and features.
The Creative+ S provides all the essential features you need today, along with a few fancy additions like Ambient Lighting and Sequential Turn Indicators. It will also save you a few lakhs compared to the top-end Accomplished+ A.
Both Accomplished trims offer additional features that one can easily live without. The only features I found desirable from the Accomplished S and Accomplished+ A are the Ventilated Front Seats and Connected Tech, respectively.
