Tata Hexa test mule spotted near Pune

Earlier this year, Tata Motors had showcased the Hexa concept crossover at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The company went on to confirm that it will introduce the vehicle in India later this year. Now, a test mule of the Hexa has been spotted on the Mumbai - Pune Expressway.

While the test mule is heavily camouflaged, it is clear that it will carry over the styling of the concept. It has a flatter bonnet, a honeycomb mesh grille and five-spoke alloy wheels. The door mirrors have integrated turn-indicators and the wipers are just like the Aria, on which the vehicle is based.

Like the concept, the production version is likely to get projector headlamps, bumpers with brushed aluminium skid plates, body cladding, blackened B, C and D-pillars and wraparound LED tail lamps.

The vehicle displayed at Geneva had a dual tone dashboard with a multifunction steering wheel, touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, six captain seats, AC vents for the second and third row and LED ambient interior lighting. Many of these features are expected to make it to the production version.

The Hexa is expected to be powered by a 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder VARICOR 400 diesel engine that puts out 154 bhp and 400 Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. A 6-speed automatic transmission could also be offered.
