Tata Kite spotted with Narain Karthikeyan at the wheel

A test mule of the upcoming Tata Kite hatchback has been spotted at Lonavala. This time, ex-Formula One racer, Narain Karthikeyan was at the wheel.

Karthikeyan has been involved in the development of various new cars from Tata Motors. His job involves benchmarking Tata's cars against the competition and help the company improve them by providing feedback on steering, handling, tyres, ergonomics and driving position.

The Kite is expected to be available in hatchback and a sub-4-metre compact sedan body styles. Both are expected to be equipped with features such as a multi-function steering wheel, Harman-developed infotainment system and air-conditioning. Many parts are likely to be shared with the Zest and Bolt.

Engine options could include a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.05-litre diesel engine. Tata may also offer CNG, LPG and AMT or e-clutch equipped variants of the cars.

Tata Motors is expected to manufacture the Kite at its plant in Sanand, Gujarat.
