Tata to launch Sierra EV in FY2025, Avinya in FY2026

Tata plans to expand its EV-exclusive showrooms to 50 in the next few years.

Tata Motors has lined up four new electric SUVs for the Indian market. This year, the carmaker will roll out the Curvv, followed by the Harrier EV. Tata has now shared the launch timeline for the much-anticipated Sierra EV and Avinya.

The Sierra EV concept was showcased at Auto Expo 2023. The 5-door electric SUV will go on sale in FY2025 alongside the Harrier EV.

Unlike the concept, the production version will feature a more conventional design, inspired by the Land Rover Defender. As per a patent filing, the SUV will have an upright front fascia with an LED light bar, square-ish wheel arches and a clamshell bonnet.

The Sierra EV will be based on Tata’s Gen2 EV platform and use the acti.ev architecture.

The Tata Avinya concept was unveiled in April 2022. It is expected to spawn multiple EVs, including electric SUVs and MPVs. The carmaker has now confirmed that the first production car based on this concept will debut in FY2026.

The Avinya range of EVs will be based on JLR’s modular EMA architecture, which will be shared with the next-generation Velar, Evoque and Discovery Sport.

Tata Motors has announced that it plans to expand its EV-exclusive showrooms to 50 in the next few years. It will focus on expanding the EV charging network to over 1,00,000 points by FY2030 and also plans to bundle EVs with solar rooftops.
