Now, the company has officially announced that Argentine football star Lionel Messi will be its global ambassador and promote and endorse its passenger vehicles across the world. To start with, Tata Motors will first roll-out the association campaign, #madeofgreat, starring the footballer.

This is the first time ever that the passenger vehicle business will be undertaking an overall brand association campaign with a brand ambassador. The company will also be launching limited edition merchandising range of this association.

Lionel Messi was declared the world's best player for 4 consecutive years - 2009 - 2012. At present, he plays for the Argentina National Team and FC Barcelona. Tata Motors will be banking on his popularity to gain some traction in international markets.

Tata Motors' new range of passenger cars includes the Zest compact sedan, Bolt and GenX Nano hatchbacks. The company is expected to launch another hatchback and compact sedan, codenamed Kite, in the coming months.
