Tata Motors to deploy 1,000 EVs in Maharashtra

Tata Motors has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the state government of Maharashtra to promote electric vehicles (EV). The company plans to deploy 1,000 EVs in the state.

Tata Motors delivered 5 Tigor EVs to the state government, as part of a tender floated earlier by the Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL). The carmaker is also partnering with Tata Power Ltd. to facilitate setting up of EV charging stations in Maharashtra. A few charging stations have already been setup in parts of Mumbai.

In October 2017, Tata Motors had secured an order to supply 10,000 EVs to EESL. Out of those, 250 EVs scheduled to be delivered in the first phase have already been built and the second phase production is now underway.
