The Tata Motors European Technical Center (TMETC) has developed an all-electric version of the Tata Tiago.

The electricals of this concept car are based on the Bolt EV displayed by Tata Motors in 2016. However, unlike the Bolt EV, which was just a proof of concept, the Tiago EV is a step towards future commercial production, initially starting with India. Both the cars are conversion EVs - in which, electric drives and batteries are packaged in striped-down regular production vehicles.

The Tiago EV is powered by a liquid-cooled electric motor that makes 114 BHP and 200 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through a single speed gearbox. The claimed range of the vehicle is more than 100 km. The car's top speed is claimed to be 135 km/h, while its 0-100 km/h time is less than 11 seconds.

The high summer temperatures and very wet monsoons are expected to be challenges faced while designing the car, making the process more complex. David Hudson, head of propulsion and innovation, also remarked that the battery size needs to be kept at a level where it is possible to recharge it at low currents, which are found in the remote regions in India. He also said that the EV platform could be transferred to autonomous vehicles in the future.
