Tata Motors to launch Bolt on January 20, 2015

Earlier this week, we reported that Tata Motors has started accepting online bookings for the upcoming Bolt hatchback. Now, according to a report by Autocar India, the company has set January 20, 2015 as the date for the launch of the car.

The Bolt will be the second product to be launched under Tata Motors' Horizonext strategy, the first one being the Zest compact sedan. It is likely to be available with a choice of two engines:

  • 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, Revotron petrol - 89 bhp, 140 Nm
  • 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, Quadrajet diesel -74 bhp, 190 Nm

Both engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

In the Bolt, Tata Motors has provided features such as multi-drive modes (for the petrol variant), electric power assisted steering (ePAS), anti-lock braking system (ABS), Corner Stability Control (CSC) and a Harman-developed touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone-based navigation.

The booking amount for the car has been set at Rs. 11,000. Information about the various trim levels and the final price is likely to be available only at the time of launch.
