Tata Nexon EV unveiled. Bookings open on December 20, 2019

Tata Motors has unveiled the all-electric version of the Nexon called the Nexon EV. The company's dealerships are scheduled to start accepting bookings from December 20, 2019, while the official launch will take place in January 2020. The car is expected to be priced between Rs. 15 lakh - Rs. 17 lakh.

The electric version is based on the updated Nexon. It will be available in three variants - XM, XZ+ and XZ+ LUX. The car features new twin-pod headlamps with LED daytime running lights, a new grille, redesigned bumper with blue inserts and fog lamps. It also gets a dual-tone exterior and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

On the inside, the Nexon EV gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rotary drive mode selector, rear camera, and sunroof. It also comes with rain sensing wipers and automatic headlights.

The Nexon EV is offered with 35 mobile app based connected features like remote commands, vehicle tracking, driving behavior analytics, navigation and remote diagnostics, locating charging stations and service stations.

The Nexon EV uses Tata's Ziptron EV technology. It comes with a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery that powers an electric motor which has an output of 127 BHP and 245 Nm. The company claims that the car can do a 0-100 km/h sprint in 9.9 seconds.

According to Tata Motors, the battery will offer a maximum range of over 300 km on a single charge (MIDC cycle). It has fast charging capability and can be recharged to 80% of its capacity using a DC fast charger in 1 hour. Using a standard AC charger, it takes 8-9 hours to recharge to 100%. The car also has an energy regeneration function.

The Nexon EV comes fitted with dual front airbags, two driving modes - Drive and Sport, hill ascent and descent assist and ISOFIX child safety seat anchors.

The Nexon EV will be offered in three colour options - Signature Teal Blue, Moonlit Silver and Glacier White.
