Tata Nexon launched at Rs. 5.85 lakh

Tata Motors has launched the Nexon at prices starting from Rs. 5.85 lakh for the petrol models and Rs. 6.85 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the diesel variants. 

Nexon is the 4th car from Tata to be based on the Impact design philosophy. The compact SUV measures 3,994 mm in length while its overall width and height are 1,811 mm and 1,607 mm respectively. Its wheelbase is 2,498 mm and the car has an unladen ground clearance of 209 mm. The front-end highlights include a body coloured bumper, projector headlamps with LED DRLs and white inserts around the fog lamps. The Nexon's coupe-like roofline and swollen wheel arches are evident in side profile. It gets LED tail lights as well. Dual-tone roof option is available on the top XZ+ trim. The Nexon has 350 litres of luggage space which can be expanded to 690 litres and it has a 44 litre fuel tank.

The cabin is finished in a three-tone colour scheme. The Connectnext infotainment system is accompanied by a 6.5-inch floating touchscreen. The system features an 8-speaker sound system by Harman and also gets Android Auto connectivity and voice commands. Apple CarPlay will be introduced at a later date. Other connectivity options include USB, AUX-IN and Bluetooth. Feature list includes remote key with electric tailgate unlock & approach lamps, passive entry & passive start, reverse camera, reverse parking sensors, power adjustable & retractable ORVMs and automatic climate control with rear air vents. Safety features like driver and passenger airbags and ABS with EBD are standard across the range. 

The Nexon is available with a choice of two engines. The 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine produces 108 BHP @ 5,000 rpm and 170 Nm of torque @ 1,750 - 4,000 rpm. A 1.5-litre, turbocharged diesel engine is also available. This unit puts out 108 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and 260 Nm of torque @ 1,500 - 2,750 rpm. Both engines are offered with a 6-speed manual transmission and multi drive modes - Eco, City and Sport.

The Nexon features an electric power steering and the suspension duties are carried out by independent McPherson strut setup in the front and a twin beam setup at the rear with coil spring and shock absorber. It uses disc brakes on the front tyres and drum brakes in the rear. Only the top end XZ+ variant gets 16-inch alloy wheels with 215/60, R16 tyres while the lower variants get 16-inch steel wheels and narrower 195/60 R16 tyres. The base variant gets single tone wheel covers while the XM and XT get dual tone wheel covers. 

Tata Nexon is available in five colour options - Moroccan Blue, Vermont Red, Seattle Silver, Glasgow Grey and Calgary White.
