Tata Motors plans to launch 7 new models by 2030, and among these is a compact SUV, dubbed the mini Sierra. The sub-4 meter model is said to be known internally as ‘Scarlet’.
The Tata Scarlet will reportedly be based on a monocoque platform that will support both internal combustion and electric powertrains. The exact technical details are still a mystery, though.
The Scarlet is expected to feature a boxy design similar to the upcoming Sierra. It will be sold alongside the Nexon but is said to target a specific set of compact SUV customers looking for a ‘lifestyle SUV’ in order to avoid cannibalisation of sales.
Media reports suggest that Tata Motors is also planning two more compact electric cars, codenamed Kuno and Terra.
