Tata Sierra patent image reveals a slightly tweaked design

The Tata Sierra is expected to be launched in the second half of this year.

Tata Motors has filed a design patent for the new Sierra in India. The SUV was presented in near-production form at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. It is expected to be launched in the second half of this year.

The Sierra has a boxy design inspired by the original SUV from the 1990s. The patent appears to be for the ICE version, which has a different front grille with additional vents on the bumper.

The design team at Tata Motors has made a few changes to the original concept, though. The thick B-pillar has been replaced with a simpler design. The car retains the squared-off wheel arches and clean lines.

The Tata Sierra is expected to be offered with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 168 BHP and 280 Nm and the familiar 2.0-litre diesel engine that currently powers the Harrier and Safari. This unit puts out 168 BHP and 350 Nm.

The Sierra EV will be based on Tata’s Gen2 EV platform and use the acti.ev architecture.
