Tata Timero trademark filed

Could this be the official name of the HBX sub-4 meter SUV?

Tata Motors has filed a trademark application for 'Tata Timero' in India, raising speculations that it could be the official name of the production version of the HBX sub-4 meter SUV concept.

The HBX concept was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. The crossover is expected to be positioned below the Nexon in Tata's line-up.

The design of the HBX is based on Tata's Impact 2.0 philosophy. It features a similar front fascia as the Harrier with headlamps positioned lower down on the front bumper. At the rear, it gets oval tail lamps with Y-shaped brake lights.

Tata's upcoming crossover could be powered by a 1.2-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine. Higher variants could get a 1.2-litre turbo petrol unit, while transmission options might include a 5-speed manual gearbox and 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT).

The launch of the HBX was initially scheduled for H2-2020. However, reports suggest that it has now been pushed back to FY2021.
