Tata Zica now renamed Tiago

It's official now! Tata Motors has renamed its upcoming hatchback to ‘Tiago’.

Tata had announced a crowd sourcing activity to rename the Zica hatchback. The company received over 37,000 suggestions, out of which it shortlisted 3 names - Civet, Tiago and Adore. Finally, based on public voting, Tiago was the name selected and thus the car has been christened as the Tata Tiago. Tiago is a Portuguese / Spanish name for a baby boy.

Mr. Libi Thomas (Facebook handle - Thomas Notthe Train) emerged as the winner of the "Fantastico Name Hunt" contest.

Cars wearing the Zica badge had already been dispatched to dealerships and rebranding the car means getting the new name registered with the Registrar of Companies (RoC), which would result in a further delay in its launch. However, now that the brand name has been frozen, we can expect the car to hit showrooms within a few weeks.
