Team-BHP scoops the 2014 Mercedes Benz E-Class luxury sedan

Team-BHP's crack team of spy photographers are at it again and here are the first ever images of the facelifted 2014 Mercedes Benz E-Class sedan spotted in India. The car was spotted at Pune and from our sources, we know for a fact that the facelifted E-Class is a regular visitor of ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India). Every vehicle that is sold in India has to pass through the portals of ARAI, which is a body which certifies that vehicles sold in the country meet all regulatory requirements. Team-BHP's sources also inform us that the E-Class facelift has been given the homologation certificate by ARAI, paving the way for the car's launch in India.

With that, Mercedes Benz has the facelifted E-Class 250CDI diesel up and ready for a launch in India. We did cover the launch date story of the facelifted E-Class earlier today and you may click here to read in detail about what the facelifted model will have to offer. The 2014 Mercedes Benz E-Class in E250CDI guise features a 2.2 liter turbo diesel engine outputting 204 Bhp-500 Nm. This engine transmits torque to the rear wheels of the car through a 7 speed automatic gearbox. In facelifted guise, the 2014 E-Class gets a start-stop system as standard across its variant range, and the addition of this system is expected to do its bit to improve the fuel economy of the car.

From the spyshots, it's evident that Mercedes Benz India will launch the Avantgarde trim of the E-Class facelift, the version of the car in which the three pointed star adorns the grille of the car (rather than being situated on the bonnet, available on Elegance trim). This crucial difference is quite important as it is the first time ever that the three pointed star is being offered in two placements on the E-Class. The car is the best selling model for Mercedes India and the arrival of the facelifted version will do its bit to keep the model fresh in the high stakes luxury segment.
