Force Gurkha Rainforest Challenge (RFC) India 2016 Champions - Gurmeet Virdi and Kirpal Singh Tung have added yet another title to their name. The duo has secured the top spot in the under 3,050 cc diesel category at the RFC 2016 Grand Final in Malaysia. They have also become the first Indian team to successfully complete the Grand Final of the RFC Global Series, which is often touted as one of the 10 toughest motor races in the world. The team scored a total of 1,361 points, out of 2,400 to clinch the title. Overall, Team India finished 11th.

Gurmeet Virdi and Kirpal Singh Tung had won the Force Gurkha RFC India 2016, which was held in Goa in July this year. This win earned them an automatic entry in the RFC 2016 Grand Final in Malaysia. This was Kirpal's first-ever participation in an international off-road competition, while Gurmeet has been the co-driver of Team India in the RFC 2014 Grand Final.

The overall category winners - Chang Chiew Shen and Edward Benggon, earned 2,203 points. The second team, comprising of Kulbak Roman and Pavel Kovalenko from Russia trailed the winners by just one point. However, Gurmeet and Kirpal managed to secure a wide enough margin in their category, as the team that finished second in the under 3,050 cc diesel category trailed by over 100 points.
