Tesla allegedly tried to cover up structural crack with paint

Reports state that the investigator confirmed the defects and even mentioned that the damage was severe enough to fail Germany's strict TUV.

According to a media report, a complaint has been filed against Tesla in a German court, alleging that the EV maker tried to hide underbody cracks on a Model 3 with paint.

Based on the complaint, the court has ordered an independent investigation into the defects. Reports state that the investigator confirmed the defects and even mentioned that the damage was severe enough to fail Germany's strict TUV - general safety inspection process. While it is atypical of a new car to have structural damage without a crash, reports cannot confirm that the vehicle has never been in an incident.

The same German court is also said to be hearing another case where a brand new Tesla was delivered with scratches and deformed jacking points. While Tesla dismissed the complaint as cosmetic, an independent investigation found damage to the floor, which could cause the vehicle to fail an inspection - primarily designed for ageing vehicles.

Reports suggest that the court is yet to make a decision on the complaints. However, buyback options could be possible for the affected vehicles.
