Test rode the BSA Gold Star 650 twice: 4 pros & 3 cons

I will watch for a year or so and may end up buying this if the service feedback is better.

BHPian TorqueyTechie recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

Over the past weekend, I had a longish test ride (around 6 kms) and at 2 different outlets. This was my second test ride and below are my notes post the ride.

Likes:

  • Bike is a looker. Loved the one in the red shade especially.
  • Vibrations are present in low speeds but once you cross 30 there are no vibrations felt. I am not sure if there are any at higher speeds as I could not cross beyond 60.
  • Power delivery is linear.
  • Weight is not felt at any time.

Dislikes:

  • Switches felt subpar compared to competition.
  • Spoke wheels - Though not a deal breaker, feel that this bike should have come with alloys/tubeless tyres for that peace of mind.
  • Trip meter or the digital meter is unreadable in daylight.

While I liked everything about the bike and was also informed that bike will be delivered immediately, I just could not commit to booking it due to lack of alloy wheel option plus the negative reviews/feedback about their service. I will watch for a year or so and may end up buying this if the service feedback is better.
