Third generation Hyundai Santa Fe launched in India

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) took the opportunity presented by the 12th Auto Expo to launch its SUV, the third generation Santa Fe in India.

The new Santa Fe projects Hyundai’s new Storm Edge design philosophy, a derivative of the fluidic design philosophy. The car is available in a range of five colours.

The exterior of the Santa Fe features a hexagonal grille, HID LED headlamps with DRLs and headlamp washers and fog lamps with cornering function at the front. The rear of the car gets an LED tail lamp cluster, a rear spoiler with an LED HMSL and dual mufflers. Additionally, there are features like roof rails, skid plates and 18-inch, 2-tone, diamond cut alloy wheels.

The interior of the Santa Fe has 2-tone, beige and brown theme, with a leather wrapped gear knob, and multi-function door arm rests. The driver’s seat features 12-way electric adjustability, the second row of seats is 40:20:40 split and the third row is 50:50 split. Equipment includes a 4.3” touch screen, 6-speaker system with Bluetooth, USB, MP3, CD compatibility and Aux-in. The steering wheel features controls for the audio, telephone and cruise control. Additionally, there is a dual-zone climate control, 6 airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic safety Control (ESC), vehicle stability management (VSM), hill start assist and downhill brake control. Hyundai claims a luggage space of 585 litres for the Santa Fe.

The Santa Fe is available as a 2wd or a 4wd. The 2wd version is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 4wd variant is available only with an automatic gearbox. The Santa Fe is powered by a 2.2-litre, CRDi diesel engine that features an e-VGT turbo charger.  The engine produces 197 PS @ 3800 rpm and 42.9 kgm @ 1800-2500 rpm (M/T) and 44.5 kgm @ 1800-2500 rpm (A/T).
