Toyota badged Vitara Brezza, Baleno to be highly localized

In March 2018, Toyota and Suzuki signed an agreement to supply cars to each other in India. As part of this deal, Toyota will receive the Vitara Brezza and Baleno from Maruti Suzuki. According to a media report, Toyota will not just sell re-badged versions of these cars but plans to increase the amount of local content to make them even more cost effective.

While the exact changes made to these models is still being worked out, it has been reported that higher localization is expected to reduce costs and make the Toyota badged products more competitive. Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) will be selling these cars through their own retail network, however the exact time frame for the launch has not been disclosed.

In return, Toyota will be supplying its Corolla sedan to Maruti Suzuki. The two brands are also discussing other projects in the areas including technological improvement, vehicle production and market development.
