Toyota & Suzuki start discussing joint projects

Toyota and Suzuki have announced that they will start discussions on vehicle production and technological and market development projects.

As part of the partnership, Suzuki plans to develop a compact powertrain with support from Denso Corporation and Toyota. Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Ltd. (TKM) will produce models developed by Suzuki and these cars will be sold in India through Toyota's as well as Suzuki's retail network. The carmakers also plan to export models developed by Suzuki to African markets.

In February 2017, the two companies had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop common products and components, green cars and work to improve vehicular safety. The brands had also reached a mutual agreement on the mutual supply of vehicles in an attempt to strengthen their respective positions in the Indian market.
