Toyota has revealed the production version of the Urban Cruiser EV. The new electric SUV is based on the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and is expected to go on sale in India sometime next year.
The overall design of the Urban Cruiser EV remains true to the concept. It has a sharp nose section with U-shaped LED headlights, square-ish wheel arches, and LED taillights with a black insert in the centre. The EV will be offered with either 18-inch or 19-inch aero-optimized wheels.
The interior of the Urban Cruiser EV is identical to the e Vitara. It has the same dashboard with a dual-screen layout, which includes a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.
In terms of features, the Urban Cruiser EV comes equipped with automatic climate control, a wireless charger, a powered driver’s seat, a sunroof, reclining rear seats, a JBL audio system and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The EV also gets a 360-degree camera and ADAS.
Like the e Vitara, Toyota’s electric SUV will also be available with two battery options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The smaller battery will be paired with a single electric motor powering the front axle. It has an output of 142 BHP and 189 Nm. The larger 61 kWh battery will be offered in single-motor and dual-motor variants with an output of 172 BHP / 189 Nm and 184 BHP / 300 Nm, respectively.
