Toyota Yaris hatchback spotted testing in India

If launched, the Yaris hatchback could compete with the Hyundai i20 and Maruti Suzuki Baleno in the Indian market.

The Toyota Yaris hatchback has been spotted testing in India.

The fourth-generation Yaris hatchback was unveiled in October 2019. The car is based on the GA-B platform and measures 3,940 mm in length. Toyota also offers a spicier 3-door version called the 'GR Yaris' in the international market.

The car seen in these images is the standard version. However, this too has a fairly sporty stance. Under the bonnet, you get a choice of three petrol engines - a 1.0-litre, 1.5-litre and 1.5-litre hybrid. The hybrid version comes with an electric motor mounted on the front axle. It has a combined output of 195 BHP and 261 Nm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and a CVT.

It is still unclear if Toyota is planning to launch the Yaris hatchback in India. However, if launched, it could compete with the Hyundai i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the likes in the Indian market.
