Triumph Motorcycles has revealed the performance figures of its first battery-powered motorcycle, the TE-1. The Triumph TE-1 prototype completed its fourth and final phase of testing last month.
The British motorcycle brand revealed that the TE-1 comes with a 15 kg motor/inverter assembly. The electric powertrain produces 177 BHP and 109 Nm and is capable of sprinting from 0 - 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. The TE-1 is also capable of reaching a speed of 160 km/h in an astonishing 6.2 seconds - making it faster than the brand's flagship Speed Triple 1200 RS.
The Triumph TE-1 electric motorcycle is said to tip the scales at 220 kg, thanks to the frame being made entirely out of aluminium. The prototype also comes with fast charging allowing a 0 - 80% power up in just 20 minutes. Under a full charge, the Triumph TE-1 is said to offer a maximum range of 161 km.
The upcoming TE-1 electric motorcycle will be among the first to feature a belt drive on the final version. However, Triumph is yet to release any details on when the electric motorcycle will enter production.
