TVS acquires iconic British motorcycle brand Norton

TVS has acquired British brand Norton Motorcycles for GBP 16 million.

Norton Motorcycles was founded by James Lansdowne Norton in Birmingham in 1898. The brand is known for their retro-styled models like the Commando, Dominator and the V4 RR superbike which uses a 1200cc engine producing 200 BHP.

Norton Motorcycles had been facing financial troubles in recent times. Earlier this year, company went into administration after it failed to pay taxes. There were reports suggesting that TVS had approached Norton's administrators for a possible takeover.
