USA: Next-gen Hyundai Elantra interiors spied

Hyundai has been testing the next-generation Elantra sedan for a while. Test mules of the car have been spotted on several occasions. In the latest spy images, the interiors of the car have been revealed.

The image indicates that the Elantra will get a completely new dashboard. The unit is now a lot less curvy and rather dull compared to the current model. The air-conditioner vents have been restyled and there is a new infotainment system with redesigned controls. The centre console has also been tweaked and houses new controls for the air-conditioner. The top of the dashboard is grey, while the lower half is beige and there are silver and chrome inserts at various places. The steering wheel is new as well with a three-spoke design.

While the camouflage hides most of the cosmetic changes that the new Elantra will get, we can make out that the car gets a curvaceous body with a sloping roofline. At the front there is a large, hexagonal radiator grille with horizontal slats, projector headlamps, LED turn indicators and a restyled bumper with vertical LED daytime running lights.

The 2016 Elantra is likely to be powered by a new 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine with an output of 174 BHP and 264 Nm of torque.
