U.S.A: Toyota & Lexus cars recalled over damaged seatbelts

For all the affected vehicles, Toyota and Lexus will notify customers by early April 2025.

Seatbelts are one of the most important safety features in a vehicle despite the advent of newer safety features being introduced in recent times.

Now news is that Toyota and Lexus are recalling approximately 41,000 vehicles. These include the MY25 Toyota Camry and Lexus NX and certain 24-25MY Lexus RX models in North America.

The reason for the recall is that the second-row centre seatbelt of these particular vehicles may have been damaged during manufacturing. This may cause the seatbelt to not meet certain strength requirements. If an occupant is belted in the second-row centre seat with a damaged seatbelt, it may increase the risk of injury during certain crashes.

For all the affected vehicles, Toyota and Lexus will notify customers by early April 2025.

Toyota and Lexus dealers will inspect the second-row center seatbelt webbing and if necessary, replace the seatbelt assembly, free of charge.
