Vehicle retail sales dropped by 12.49% in December 2024

Overall vehicle retail sales for CY2024 show a growth of 9.11% compared to the previous year

According to the data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), vehicle retail sales dropped by 12.49% in December 2024 compared to the same month last year. Overall sales for December 2024 stood at 17,56,419 units, compared to 20,07,042 units in December 2023.

Tractor sales increased by 25.78%, from 78,994 units in December 2023 to 99,292 units last month.

Two-wheeler sales were down by 17.64% to 11,97,742 units from 14,54,353 units in December 2023.

Three-wheeler sales were down by 4.57% in December 2024. 93,892 units were sold, compared to 98,384 units in December 2023.

Passenger vehicle sales were down by 1.97% compared to the previous year. 2,93,465 units were sold last month, compared to 2,99,351 units in December 2023.

Commercial vehicle sales dropped by 5.24%. 72,028 units were sold in December 2024, compared to 76,010 units in the previous year.

FADA has also shared the vehicle retail data for CY2024. As per the report, overall sales increased by 9.11% compared to the previous year. 2-wheeler sales were up 10.78% to 1,89,12,959 units, while passenger vehicle sales increased by 5.18% to 40,73,843 units.
