Volkswagen adds Corporate Edition accessory pack to the Vento

To pep up sales during the Indian festive season, Volkswagen India has added a "Corporate Edition" accessory pack to the Vento sedan. According to a Bangalore-based Volkswagen dealer, the accessory pack can be added to all variants (Trendline, Comfortline and Highline) of the Vento 1.6 MPI petrol and the 1.6 TDI diesel models. This offer is not applicable on the recently launched Volkswagen Vento TSI, a car that is available in a single variant.

The Corporate Edition accessory pack consists of 8 accessories worth about 40,000 rupees. These added accessories will be offered free of cost on the Volkswagen Vento 1.6 MPI and 1.6 TDI models, in lieu of the corporate discount that Volkswagen offers to select corporates. The other discounts on the Vento, such as the exchange offer and free insurance, may be availed of concurrently by prospective buyers. Here's the list of accessories that are outfitted to the Corporate Edition variant of the Vento:

  • Alloy Wheels
  • Boot spoiler
  • Mud flaps
  • Door protector
  • Window chrome set
  • Navigation system with rear view camera
  • Seat covers
  • Door step garnish

The Vento Corporate Edition is available with two engine options: a 1.6 liter MPI naturally aspirated petrol engine that outputs 105 PS-153 Nm and a 1.6 liter TDI turbo diesel engine that outputs 105 PS-250 Nm. Both engines get a 5 speed manual gearbox as standard. Top end variants of the Vento are available with twin airbags, ABS+EBD, automatic climate control and a steering wheel adjustable for height and reach.

For now, Volkswagen India continues to sell the 6 speed automatic gearbox equipped 1.6 liter MPI petrol engine. In the coming days, this variant could be discontinued now that the Vento 1.2 TSI engined model is available with the 7 speed DSG dual clutch automatic gearbox. Next year, the 1.6 liter TDI turbo diesel engine will be replaced by a new 1.5 liter-4 cylinder unit. Along with the new turbo diesel engine, the 1.2 liter TSI turbo petrol engine is likely to become the standard petrol engine in the Vento sedan range from 2014.
