Volkswagen Golf GTI customer deliveries begin in India

VW's sister brand Skoda plans to launch the Octavia RS in India later this year.

Volkswagen has commenced deliveries of the Golf GTI across India.

The Golf GTI was launched in India last month as a CBU. Priced at Rs 53 lakh, it is one of the most expensive hatchbacks sold in India. The first batch includes 150 units.

The Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that produces 261 BHP and 370 Nm. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which allows the car to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.

The four-door hot hatchback comes with sports seats, a 3-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system.  It also has a sunroof, 3-zone automatic climate control and Level 2 ADAS.

VW's sister brand Skoda also plans to launch the Octavia RS in India later this year. It is also expected to cost upwards of Rs 50 lakh.
