Volkswagen has commenced deliveries of the Golf GTI across India.
The Golf GTI was launched in India last month as a CBU. Priced at Rs 53 lakh, it is one of the most expensive hatchbacks sold in India. The first batch includes 150 units.
The Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that produces 261 BHP and 370 Nm. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which allows the car to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.
The four-door hot hatchback comes with sports seats, a 3-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It also has a sunroof, 3-zone automatic climate control and Level 2 ADAS.
VW's sister brand Skoda also plans to launch the Octavia RS in India later this year. It is also expected to cost upwards of Rs 50 lakh.
