Volkswagen to launch new e-up! with longer range

Volkswagen will launch an updated version of the e-up! at the Frankfurt Motor Show, which is scheduled to be held later this month. The new model is cheaper than the outgoing model and is priced at Euro 21,975 in Germany.

The 18.7 kWh battery pack in the current model will be replaced by a 32.3 kWh battery pack. The range will also go up from 190 km to 260 km. The battery pack will be capable of charging at 40 kW and is said to take 60 minutes to charge to 80%. Powering the e-up! will be an 82 BHP electric motor. The 0-100 km/h time is claimed to be 11.9 seconds while the top speed is 130 km/h according to the company.

The new e-up! will be equipped with automatic air-conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity and lane-keeping assistance. A range of personalisation options are also likely to be offered.
