Volkswagen T-Roc could be assembled locally

According to a media report, Volkswagen could locally assemble the T-Roc using completely knocked down kits (CKD). However, this would depend on the demand for the model.

Volkswagen launched the T-Roc earlier this year. The SUV is imported as a completely built unit (CBU) under the new rule, which allows carmakers to import 2,500 units per year without the need for homologation.

In India, the T-Roc is offered with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 148 BHP @ 5,000-6,000 rpm and 250 Nm @ 1,500-3,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

According to Volkswagen, the first shipment of the T-Roc has already been sold out.
