According to media reports, Volkswagen is bringing the Tayron SUV to the European market. The German carmaker will be unveiling the SUV on 10 October, which will serve as a replacement for the Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace. Ahead of its unveiling, Volkswagen has released a teaser of the 7-seater SUV, which was unveiled in the Chinese market earlier this year.
The Volkswagen Tayron carries forward almost the same design as the new-generation Tiguan. Being a 7-seater SUV though, the Tayron will be longer and have a larger wheelbase than the Tiguan. Reports state the Tayron will be around 4,700 mm in length and have a wheelbase of roughly 2,800 mm. Inside, expect the SUV to get a fully digital instrument cluster, a large central touchscreen and an optional front passenger display, among a host of other features and tech.
The Tayron will be based on the MQB EVO platform, which also underpins the latest-generation Skoda Kodiaq. This indicates the Volkswagen SUV could receive the same set of petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid and plug-in-hybrid powertrain options.
As per reports, the Volkswagen Tayron could be offered with a starting price of around 38,000 GBP.
The Tayron is also expected to make it to Indian markets at a slightly later stage. It will take on the likes of the Jeep Meridian and the Skoda Kodiaq.
