Volkswagen Tiguan facelift unveiled

Volkswagen has unveiled the updated Tiguan with sharper looks and more safety features.

The new Tiguan comes with a larger chrome grille and twin-pod LED headlights that have crisp LED daytime running lights. The front bumper has also been updated and now gets larger vents with chrome inserts.

At the rear, the new Tiguan gets LED tail lights in an L-shaped design similar to the outgoing model. Also, like most new VW models, the SUV gets Tiguan lettering on the tail gate. It comes with multiple alloy wheel options ranging from 17-20 inches in size.

On the inside, the new Tiguan features an updated 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel and a redesigned centre console that comes with a touchscreen infotainment head-unit. The car also gets an 8-inch digital instrument cluster as standard, while a 10-inch unit is available as an option.

In terms of safety equipment, the new Tiguan is fitted with VW's Travel Assist, which include adaptive cruise control with stop and go along with lane keep assist.

In the international market, the Tiguan is offered with a turbocharged 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol that produces 184 BHP and 300 Nm. The Tiguan R comes with 315 BHP engine, while the plug-in hybrid variant has an output of 241 BHP.

In India, VW offers the 7-seater Tiguan Allspace. It is powered by a 2.0-litre, turbo-petrol engine that produces 187 BHP @ 4,200 rpm and 320 Nm @ 1,500-4,100 rpm. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
