Volvo 9600 intercity buses launched in India

The Volvo 9600 intercity coach is available in two variants – 15 meter 6x2 and 13.5 meter 4x2.

Volvo Buses India has introduced the 9600 platform in India. The intercity buses based on this platform come in two variants – 15 meter 6x2 and 13.5 meter 4x2.

The 15 meter coach has a seating capacity of 55, while the sleeper coach version has 40 berths. The luggage space available in both versions is 15.1 cubic meters and 9.2 cubic meters, respectively.

The 13.5 meter long coach is also available in seater and sleeper configurations. It can carry up to 47 passengers or can be equipped with 36 berths. The luggage space available in these versions are 13.6 cubic meters and 8.1 cubic meters, respectively.

The Volvo 9600 range comes equipped with push back seats, theatre type saloon, individual USB charging ports, individual AC louvres and reading lights. The sleeper coaches come with soft touch handles, ladders and restraints for children. It also comes with privacy curtains, storage shelves and reading lights.

The Volvo 9600 coach is powered by a D8K 8-litre diesel engine that produces 344 BHP @ 2,200 rpm and 1,350 Nm @ 1,200-1,600 rpm. The engine is mated to Volvo’s I-Shift automated manual gearbox. The bus also gets electronic braking and hill start assist features.
