Volvo launches the V40 hatchback at Rs. 24.75 lakhs

Volvo's premium hatchback, V40 has been launched in India at a price of Rs. 24.75 lakh. The V40 is the hatchback upon which the V40 Cross Country is based, which has been available in the country since 2013. It will be a direct rival to other premium hatchbacks available in the market such as the Mercedes-Benz A-Class and BMW 1-Series.

Being a Volvo, the car is loaded to the gills with safety equipment. The car is equipped with a pedestrian airbag, an automatic-braking feature, ABS, traction control and a plethora of airbags (including a driver knee airbag) to protect the occupants. It also features side impact protection system, whiplash protection and a patented safety cage made out of Boron Steel.

The car gets a park assist pilot feature which steers the car automatically while parallel parking. A new graphic instrument cluster is available which changes colour based on the driver's mood between Eco, Elegance and Performance. Leather interiors, interior ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof and paddle-shifters are some of the other niceties on offer.

Powering the Volvo is a 2.0 litre D3 diesel motor which produces 150 BHP and 350 Nm of torque. This hatchback is only available with a 6-speed automatic transmission as of now.

The V40 will be brought to India via the CBU route and has been introduced in two variants and the ex-showroom, Delhi prices for the same are:
Kinetic: Rs. 24.75 lakhs
R-Design: Rs. 27.7 lakhs
