Volvo S60 Polestar launched in India at Rs. 52.50 lakh

Volvo has launched the S60 Polestar in India at a price of Rs 52.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It marks the debut of Volvo's performance-oriented Polestar brand in the country. This is Volvo's ninth car in India and will be sold as the brand's halo product.

While most of the design cues of the high-performance sedan have been borrowed from its standard sibling, Volvo has added some minor cosmetic tweaks to differentiate the Polestar from the regular S60. These new design elements include a set of 20-inch alloy wheels, a body kit and a prominent rear boot lid mounted spoiler. On the inside, the car gets leather seats with blue stitching and Polestar badges on the gear selector lever and the seat headrests. The steering is also a new unit, while the centre console has been detailed with carbon fibre inserts.

Under the hood is a new 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged and supercharged petrol engine that is capable of developing 362 BHP and 470 Nm of torque while being mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. With this powertrain setup, the S60 Polestar can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in a company-claimed time of 4.7 seconds, while its top speed is rated at 250 km/h. Power is sent to all four wheels through a Haldex all-wheel drive system.

The sedan also gets an updated suspension setup that has been tuned to be 80% stiffer as compared to S60 T6 R-Design. It also gets manually adjustable dampers, bigger Brembo brakes and a sportier exhaust with brushed aluminium tips. The air intake is much larger than that of the regular model, in order to provide an easy flow of air to the engine block, while the fuel-pump too is of a higher capacity rating.

The Volvo S60 Polestar will be competing against the likes of the Mercedes- AMG C43 and the Audi S5, both of which are priced way over the Volvo.
