Volkswagen has signed a term sheet with Mahindra to supply electric components for the latter’s EV range. These include parts from VW Group’s MEB electric architecture that will be used in the INFLO platform showcased recently.
Mahindra unveiled its new range of electric SUVs based on the INGLO platform on August 15, 2022. As part of the deal, the new models are expected to be equipped with MEB components, including the electric drivetrain, batteries and battery systems. The potential localisation of the battery system is also a part of the agreement.
Mahindra’s electric SUV range will be part of two sub-brands – ‘XUV.e’ and ‘BE’. The first model from Mahindra’s Born Electric range will debut in December 2024.
Mahindra and VW have also agreed to explore potential areas of cooperation, including e-mobility, vehicle projects, localisation of battery cell manufacturing and charging and energy solutions.
