Due to work and personal commitments I completely forgot about this travelogue, only got reminded of this after seeing a recent South African travelogue by a fellow BHPian. So here goes the rest of it:
Day 4:
We decided to head towards H6 again in the morning hoping to see the pride we had been seeing for the past 2 days and it was a success. We found 1 female on the road moving west and followed her for a few minutes before she disappeared into the tall reeds.
After this, we decided to head North of Satara on H1-4 and just a few minutes in we saw a snake trying to protect itself from an attacking mongoose. This was a first for me, and even though I couldn’t capture it well, it was definitely just amazing to witness!
A little further to the North we found our way blocked by a different pride of lions just sprawling the entire width of the road.
They occupied at least some part of the road at all times while continuously moving around, keeping us thoroughly entertained. There were 8 lions in total, some females and some sub-adults along with one very young cub.
By now it was already 8, time for us to turn back. We reached the camp by 8:30 am to attend our early morning work meetings and quickly wrapped up work by 3:30 pm to head out for the evening drive. Again, it was an uneventful evening drive which slowly became the pattern for the whole trip - amazing morning drives and quiet evening drives.
We saw some beautiful giraffes, a waterbuck, and a monitor lizard. Had to call it a day and returned to the camp by 6:30.
