Why I chose the TVS iQube S over the Ather 450X

The reason for not choosing an Ather is its price is too high for the range. Also, the noise is too high and irritating, especially at lower speeds.

BHPian sri_tesla recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Booked the iQube S variant in Hyderabad. After the booking with Rs 5,000, there are options to choose the charger and dealer. Only a 650W charger option is available and it's priced at Rs 9,450. After selecting the charger and dealer, the final payment option is also enabled. Completed the full payment as well. I am not a 2 wheeler enthusiast and my usage is very very low. I have been looking for an electric scooter to replace my 10-year-old FZ for the last 2 years. Lockdowns, WFH, and moving to the native place delayed the purchase. TVS iQube launched in 2020 has the lowest range among all the competition (Ather, Chetak, Ola). Now with the latest upgrades, it became the highest range (ST variant) 2-wheeler.

I would have gone for the ST variant if they had announced the price and started deliveries, but the deliveries for that start from August onwards. I have made the reservation (Rs 999) for ST as well. If the pricing is decent and my experience with S is good, then I will purchase that as well unless Hero surprises with their scooter next month.

The reason for not choosing the Ather is its price is too high for the range. Also, the noise is too high and irritating, especially at lower speeds. Ather's performance and ride quality are very good. Chetak was a good option at the launch price and was only available in 2 cities for a few months at that price. It's now almost 50% costlier and the range is still the same. Ola's performance, ride quality, range, and pricing are good but reliability problems and bad service quality made me hesitant. Hopefully, with increased competition, we will see much better Gen 2 products from all these companies.

Here are the complete pricing details for iQube, iQube S, and charger.
